At UNIGLOBE Travel (British Isles & EMEA) our chosen charity is Plan International, which provides basic life necessities such as clean water, disaster relief, shelter and education for some of the World’s poorest communities. Below is a snapshot of our most recent charity engagements.

UNIGLOBE and the Environment

UNIGLOBE is the first international travel franchise company to introduce a carbon offset program to help our business clients reduce the impact of airline travel on climate change.

In their local communities, UNIGLOBE Member Agencies, Global Partners and their employees also contribute their time and resources to support local causes that are close to their hearts.

We understand the importance of being environmentally friendly and pride ourselves on encouraging this mentality throughout the entire business.

We are committed to managing and minimising the effects our organisation and all of our operations have on the environment.

Plan International’s ‘Because I am a Girl’ Project

For several years, staff working at UNIGLOBE member agencies have been actively raising funds to help Plan International address basic needs among children in impoverished countries and carry out emergency relief efforts.

Because I am a Girl is an initiative by Plan International to empower young girls and women to rise out of poverty and to contribute to the advancement of economies worldwide. UNIGLOBE Travel (British Isles & EMEA) is committed to raising awareness and funds for this campaign across our organisation.

“As travel industry leaders, it is important to us to help to raise awareness of programs that strengthen economies and create opportunities for young women to succeed,” says UNIGLOBE Travel International President and Chief Operating Officer, Martin Charlwood.

A 2009 report titled Because I am a Girl: The State of the World’s Girls revealed that girls in the world’s poorest regions are among the most disadvantaged people on the planet. Girls are three times more likely to be malnourished and about 60 million girls are not attending primary school. The report concludes that, each year, struggling economies lose billions of dollars because they fail to invest in girls and young women.

A secure, international UNIGLOBE donation page for Because I am a Girl is currently in development. More information and fundraising highlights are coming soon!
